Baked Dolls with YUCa’s Tea Roasted Green Tea

In Asakusa, there is a famous traditional Japanese sweet called ningyo-yaki (baked dolls). Did you know it was originally called Meisho-yaki? “Meisho” refers to well-known or famous locations. The famous landmarks of Asakusa, such as the giant lantern with “Kaminarimon” written on it, the five-story pagoda, and the wind and thunder gods, are all made with molds shaped after these landmarks. It is a classic souvenir from Asakusa.

Pairing it with YUCa’s Tea Roasted Green Tea (Hojicha) is also highly recommended. Asakusa ningyoyaki is bite-sized and easy to eat. The fluffy dough contains sweet red bean paste, and the rich, roasted flavor of hojicha tea pairs perfectly with it.
