Green Tea (Fukamushi Sencha)

Region
Chiran, located in Minamikyushu City, is home to historical landmarks such as the Samurai Residence Gardens and the Peace Museum, which preserve the areas rich heritage. The expansive tea fields that dot the landscape create a picturesque rural scene. In the nearby city of Kagoshima, a central base for your travels, you will find many sites where you can learn about the history of the Satsuma region during the late Edo period.
Tea pairing
A perfect food pairing for green tea is taiyaki, a fish shaped cake that is not only distinctive in appearance but also visually appealing. The fillings vary, with options like red bean paste [anko] or custard, but my recommendation is the one with tsubuan [chunky red bean paste]. The deep-steamed sencha has a rich umami and mellow flavor that pairs perfectly with the crispness and sweetness of the taiyaki.
How to enjoy
Since it is a leaf type, we recommend pairing it with meals on your days off, or adjusting the amount of tea leaves to enjoy the tea at your preferred strength.
