Mitara-shi rice dumplings with YUCa’s Tea Roasted Green Tea
Mitara-shi dango (Mitara-shi rice dumplings) is one of Japan’s representative traditional sweets. It is a classic treat that can be purchased at convenience stores and supermarkets, but originally, it is said to have originated from Kameya Awayoshi, a shop located near Shimogamo Shrine in Kyoto, known as Kamo Mitara-shi Chaya. Mitara-shi dango was made as a local specialty during the festivals held at Shimogamo Shrine, with the intention of warding off evil and offering prayers for protection.
The slightly grilled, chewy dumplings, coated with a sweet and savory soy sauce glaze, create a perfect harmony of flavors. Pairing it with YUCa’s Tea Roasted Green Tea enhances the experience, offering an exquisite taste. On cold days, enjoy the tea warm, and on hot days, try it brewed with cold water.
